Overview

 Position Summary: Slotting Specialist

 

- The Slotting Specialist plays a critical role in optimizing warehouse layout and item placement to support efficient replenishment and order selection processes. By analyzing product velocity, size, weight and operational flow, this role ensures that every item is slotted in a way that minimizes travel time, enhances productivity, reduces error rates and internal damages. This position is key to driving operational excellence in a high-volume food distribution environment.

 

 Pay: $23.00 - $26.00/hr + $50/wk Bonus for perfect attendance & no errors

Responsibilities

 Key Responsibilities:

 

- Analyze item movement data to determine ideal slotting locations based on volume, pick frequency, size, and other factors.

- Collaborate with replenishment and order selection teams to understand workflow efficiencies and slotting-related challenges.

- Maintain and update warehouse management system (WMS) regularly with accurate item location details.

- Execute slotting strategies for new product introductions, seasonal changes, and promotional periods.

- Monitor slot utilization and re-slot items as needed to improve productivity and reduce congestion or bottlenecks.

- Coordinate with inventory control and operations teams to ensure slotting changes align with overall inventory management.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills:

 

- High School Diploma or Equivalent

- 3 years of warehouse experience, preferably related to slotting, Inventory Control, or related warehouse operations.

- Familiarity with WMS and/or Inventory management systems is preferred.

- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel or other data tools.

- Comfortable with both computer-based analysis and hands-on evaluation of slot locations.

- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.

- Ability to work cross-functionally with operational teams.

- Forklift, Order Picker & Pallet Jack experience preferred. Will train for equipment use.

- Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, and moderate lifting.

- Knowledge of food distribution industry logistics and warehouse processes a plus.
